The Neurogeriatrics Kiel research group investigates mobility and quality of everyday movements – e.g. walking, postural transitions (such as sit-to-stand movements), turning around – in the elderly and patients with neurodegenerative diseases. State-of-the-art detection systems and algorithms are used. We are centrally involved in national and international prospective observational cross-sectional and longitudinal studies, as well as intervention studies. Our focus is on equipping and accompanying cohorts with portable sensor systems, and data collection in the home and clinical environment. We also develop and validate algorithms that can reliably detect these movements.
